SWAG’s 10th Annual Thanksgiving Event

Today was SWAG’s 10th annual Thanksgiving event! With many thanks to our generous partners, we were able to provide 241 turkeys (a record for us!) along with a bag with all the side items to make a complete holiday dinner. After 10 years, we’re getting pretty good at this. Thank you Partnership for Strong Families, our wonderful Alachua County Veterans, longtime SWAG supporter Sheriff Sadie Darnell, and the men and women of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office. We couldn’t do this without all of you! In addition to our deputies’ generosity, we’d like to give ACSO’s Communications staff a special shout out for their extraordinary effort in bringing in and donating a ton of side items. We love our community partners.

Our deputies go out into the community each year to deliver Thanksgiving dinner to our community members who may have difficulty getting to our center to pick up their turkeys. Sheriff Darnell helps make deliveries, too.

We had some new partners this year who made it possible to give out reusable bags with all our side items. Thank you to Gainesville Country Day’s 2nd grade class and their teacher Karen Whipple, Trader Joe’s, and Haile Market Publix.

We are so grateful to everyone who helps us accomplish so much. Happy Thanksgiving!
